Denominations

The denomination of a slot machine is denned as the smallest amount of money needed to spin the reels. The casinos and the slot manufacturers have taken this about as far as possible, in that there are machines in all the following denominations on the casino floors:

ltf, 20, 50, 100, 250, 500, $1, $2, $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $500

If you have an odd coin or bill burning a hole in your pocket, the casinos want to be sure you have a place to spend it.

Yes, there are still penny slot machines out there. The new ones accept paper money and allow you to bet up to one thousand coins ($10), so they are quite profitable for the casinos. Because the penny machines used to be very tight, the old advice was not to play them. That advice may no longer be valid.
